Lahore Lahore Aye

The saying “Jine Lahore Nai Vekhya O Jamya E Ni” (He who has not yet seen Lahore, has not been born!”) is quite famous all over the Pakistan about Lahore.

Let me write today’s blog about my first love “the city I was born in, Lahore”. Lahore, the capital of Punjab and Pakistan’s 2nd largest city is a prosperous cosmopolitan and Pakistan’s cultural heart, making it one of the most visited cities by domestic and foreign tourists. The city of Lahore is also popular with visitors thanks to its striking street food. Every nook, corner, building and street is steeped in history and has a story to tell; all you have to do is step outside. Old Lahore city was surrounded with giant walls and had 12 big doors. Roshnai Gate is believed to be the starting point of the walled City of Lahore. River Ravi used to pass near Northwest wall of Lahore Fort over 200 years ago. Lahore is derivative name of Luv, and Kasur is of Kusha. Both were sons of Lord Rama, mentioned in the epic Ramayana. Lahore is historically an important place in the South Asian Subcontinent. Famous buildings made here during the time of the Mughal Empire include the Badshahi Mosque, the Lahore Fort and the Shalimar Gardens. It was capital of the Sikh Empire of the early 19th century.
